Anticipation
In looking for a good early-season tune-up, Mount Bierstadt seems to fit the bill. The climb is relatively short and easy, with a road that is sure to be open. I'm not sure how much snow will still be on the mountain, but the forecast is for very warm weather, so cold weather shouldn't be a factor.

Afternoon thunderstorms will be a distinct possibility, so I will try to start hiking around first light. Since I never see first light on a daily basis, I'll have to look up the time of tomorrow's sunrise and calculate my departure time accordingly. I will get up early and drive to the Guanella Pass trailhead tomorrow morning.
